Customised Drones Training for Northbrooks Secondary School

It was a day well spent for a group of 7 teachers on 16 March 2015 at Northbrooks Secondary School, who have engaged SiTF Academy for a one-day customised drones training workshop.

Training instructor WONG Tack Wai, shared the basics of drones with a hands-on flying lesson. The teachers were given a four-channel Mode 2 quad-copter to learn safe flying for the first time in the school’s aviation centre. Tack Wai told the teachers that once they master the control on the given quad-copter, they would be able to handle many more Mode 2 drones in the current market. The teachers were able to test this knowledge by handling other models available to them in the workshop.

The session was followed by learning how to build drones in the afternoon. The teachers saw an eclectic mix of drone components that could be used to build drones. The show and tell approach helped the teachers to quickly familiarise themselves with the drone construction process.  To further strengthen the drone knowledge acquisition process, the teachers would go through a first-hand opportunity to build, set-up, test and fly a 450 mm quad-copter.

The teachers were very enthusiastic and asked numerous questions throughout the interactive session of discussion and videos. SiTF Academy is pleased to receive positive feedback from the teachers on the training session.

From the knowledge gained, the teachers will be well equipped to guide students towards meaningful pathways to develop themselves for interesting and rewarding careers in science, technology and aviation.
