ACCESS THE ENTERPRISE IOT MARKET IN ASEAN
Asia IoT Business Platform Philippines 2019 | Manila | 24 to 25 July 2019

One of Asia’s fastest growing economies, the Philippines is becoming an emerging tech ecosystem in the region. The country’s economic growth is expected to remain stable and robust, maintaining between 7% - 8% for the next 3 years as a result of strong public investments.

Initiatives to develop the digital infrastructure of the country includes a USD$26 million plan to provide free WiFi in public spaces and educational institute and a further USD$4 million to improve internet quality and speed. These initiatives will be implemented by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).

Building on the positive steps taken on connectivity and network systems, a new National Broadband Plan was formulated in July 2016 to accelerate broadband deployment, which will provide the platform for Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity.

Mislatel, a consortium of China Telecom, Udenna and Chelsea Logistics Holdings, was named the provisional third telco in November 2018.

Another key area in the initiative is smart cities. As an essential component in digital economies, smart cities incorporate sustainable growth and technological integration into a country as well as giving substantial economic boost. The Philippines have planned for multiple projects to be launched over the next decade with prominent ones such as the New Manila Bay City of Pearl and New Clark City being core developments. New Clark City alone is set to contribute an additional USD$31 billion to the country’s GDP.

Supported by DICT, Asia IoT Business Platform aims to bring together end users from public and private sectors to explore the possibility of adopting IoT solutions to build smarter cities and efficient business. Over 300 senior stakeholders from government, telecommunications, manufacturing, logistics, transportation, healthcare, banking and financial services will be present to discuss the challenges and opportunities presented by IoT.
