GOVTECH PARTNERING THE INDUSTRY TO BUILD A DIGITAL ECONOMY



At the 5th CXO Breakfast Talk, close to 130 C-level  business leaders and senior executives from the industry attended the keynote address by Ms. Jacqueline Poh, CEO of Government Technology Agency (GovTech).



GovTech is the Government’s innovation arm that spearheads the government’s digital strategy. Ms. Poh reiterated that her office will partner public agencies, industry and citizens to transform public service delivery through the use of technologies such as data science and analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning. New technologies such as sensors, Internet-of-Things (IoT), Big Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, augmented reality, robotics will be leveraged to deliver more effective services to the public. 




Ms. Poh shared that for Singapore to be truly a Smart Nation, it is imperative to have a vibrant community that is ready to embrace the possibilities of the 4th Industrial Revolution and engage people who want to be part of the movement to transform Singapore.

At the closed-door breakfast session, Ms. Poh also shared on the government’s procurement principle and processes. Procurement principle will be based on users’ need, built based on experiences not applications, like Lego - iterate as you go. Emphasis will be on good design to enhance experiences, use of data to support decisions leveraging on APIs/cloud services to optimize products.



To build collaborative opportunities, GovTech will work with industry partners to meet demand for new products and services, co-source and build.  Greater agility will be introduced in ICT procurement processes such as Public Sector ICT Supplier Panel and Outcome-based Procurement. This is to ensure agencies can work with industry to utilize new technological solutions more easily.

Ms. Poh assured industry partners that the government upholds the values of professionalism and transparency by delivering fair dealing outcomes.


In closing, Ms. Poh emphasised the need to work hand-in-hand with the industry to ignite the passion to create and fuel a tech ecosystem and spur the growth of the tech industry in Singapore.
